Winter Beach Maternity Shoot Makeup

✨Pregnancy Glow is a REAL thing, babes.✨

I can attest to this more than ever, after my session with Tylor- an expectant mommy and client of mine. Tylor came into the salon earlier this week for a makeup session for her maternity shoot in Pensacola, Florida.

The weather in Tallahassee had been awful the weekend before our session. If we’re being honest, I wasn’t looking that hot either. I had the horrible case of “Monday’s” with my leggings, no makeup, and top knot. Just a tad bit prettier than the crypt keeper.

****True Story: Makeup Artists rarely look like actual makeup artists in real life. Don’t be fooled though, these hands make MAGIC, sista!

Tylor on the other hand, had her “Mom Glow” in full effect. From the minute she walked in, I knew my job was pretty much done for me. One look at that amazing skin and I was SWOONING over the radiant, flawless, canvas she so graciously provided me. It was a makeup artist’s dream to work with such an even skin tone, with not a single bit of texture or imperfection. Tylor’s skin regime? Carrying her baby girl for the last 34 weeks.

skin

Whenever I do makeup for someone, I focus a lot on skin. Some people believe their eyeshadow is the main focal point of a look. Some believe the perfect lip, ties it all together. Others object that highlight is the deal breaker. For me, the skin is the backdrop and if it’s not perfect, nothing looks good against it. I’m obsessed with making skin look delectable enough to take a bite of. The kind that makes you look glamorous in pictures and effortless in person.

We used the following products for her skin:

Primer- Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

Foundation- Tarte Shapetape Foundation in “Light Medium Neutral”

Concealer- Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in “Light Sand” for highlight and Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit for contours of face.

Setting Powder- Laura Mercier Translucent Powder over the highlighted areas and MAC Studio Fix Powder in “NC30” over all other areas.

Bronzer- Essence Sun Club “Matte Bronzing Powder”

Contour- Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit “Havana and Java”

Blush- Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in “Dazzled”

Highlighter- Anastasia Beverly Hills “Aurora” Glow Kit

Setting Spray- MAC Fix+

eyes

Tylor is one of my special clients who lets my creativity run free with little restraints. Since this wasn’t my first time doing her makeup, she trusted me to pick a color combination that would make her eyes pop. We went for a warm, smokey eye, with lots of dimension and shimmer. She was going to be taking pictures at the beach, with tons of beautiful colors in her backdrop; hence, we used mostly golds and browns that would compliment that as opposed to distract from it.

The gold shadows made those baby blues POP! I’ve also been on this white eyeliner phase lately and decided to add that last minute. The addition of the white eyeliner in the water line, made her eyes bigger and complimented the gold perfectly!

The REAL KILLER were the gorgeous lashes we applied last. I immediately went and purchased every single one they had left after our session, from Ulta. These Eylure babies were so luxurious and added instant BOLDNESS to her face. Her smeyes would give Tyra Banks a run for her money.

We used the following products for this gorgeous sultry eye look:

Brows- Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow in “Blonde” cleaned up with Tarte Shapetape Concealer “Light Sand”

Eyes- Tarte Shapetape Concealer to prime the lid, Anastasia Beverly Hills “Soft Glam” Palette (Orange Soda, Burnt Orange, Sienna, Rustic, Fairy, and Glistening), NYX black pencil to smoke the lash line and White Pencil in the waterline.

Lashes- NARS Climax Mascara and Eylure Volume Lashes from Ann Le’s collection <— EVERYONE needs these damn lashes for their special event!

To finish the look, we went with Velvet Teddy by MAC for her lips. Something neutral, matte, and complimenting to her bold eyes. I love MAC lipsticks as they are one of my all time favorite formulas. This color in particular looks great on any skin tone. A deeper beige with just the right color pay off to be slightly different from your lips. Not to mention, the PERFECT shade to go outside the lines a bit to appear more plump.

NOW, tell me this girl doesn’t look RAVISHING.

I was so OBSESSED with this beauty and literally reminded her of this eight times on the way out! Thank you so much sweet Tylor for coming in! I’m definitely looking forward to seeing her professional pictures, once the come in.

Let me know what you think of Ty’s makeup!

XOXO, B
